Florida is expected to hold its presidential primary on January 31, likely throwing the carefully arranged Republican nominating calendar into disarray, CNN has learned.
The move would jump start the nominating process a month earlier than GOP leaders had hoped and almost certainly force Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada to leapfrog Florida and move their primaries and caucuses into early- to mid-January.
"We are expecting to meet on Friday from 11 to 12, and I expect that they will pick January 31 as Florida's primary date," Florida House Speaker Dean Cannon said about a state commission exploring potential primary dates.

Trickle Down Economics is bad . . .

As spoken on Meet The Press, by Governor Mitch Daniels, R-Indiana:

"The point he is making, on flooding the world with printed money, borrowing unlimited quantities, using it for 'trickle-down government', which is the policy of this administration, is a bad one."

Governor Daniels was supporting the comments made by Governor Rick Perry of Texas, upon calling the current President's policies "treasonous."

Let's check that: George W. Bush spent 6.4 Trillion dollars - he added to the deficit. Obama has added 2.4 Trillion.

That is almost three to one . . . and we wonder why we are in the problem that we are in?

What really happens when the lights go out?

I have been wondering about this for some time now and frankly, as my days are numbered (I have fewer days ahead then days that have passed), I wonder what the darkness or silence holds.

One day, I will not awake and one day, I will no longer communicate with those in my life. I worry for them, but I expect that they will continue forward and live good lives.

I am overcome by the fear of that day, and I know that that day nears. I have had 42 years on this marble and I am satisfied with these past years, these past four decades - but I still have much to do, much to accomplish. I hurry to do it, because if I do not, I will not accomplish what I want to accomplish.

I can only wonder if I will have had made a difference in this world, left my mark and not disappear into obscurity. I want to be a part of history for all time. I want to be known as someone that did good in this world and was good at doing good!

I can only think of that moment, when the lights go out, what the nothingness will be . . .

What will happen and will it be as James Kirk, on Viridian III, when the moment arrived and his life slipped away . . . "Oh my . . ."

I am not being morbid, but simply sharing thoughts and feelings for I can not keep them simply in my thoughts. I can not.

Brazil can't finish, USA comes from behind to win and advance!

US Wins!

2-1. Or was 3-0? Well, doesn’t matter really. The final score is Brazil over the U.S. in 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup play in Germany. In the opening minutes, Brazil scored on its own goalie, giving the U.S. an early lead and what would turn out to be its only score. This game, was a genuine clash of the Titans. BREAKING NEWS! Coming from the far side, Rapinoe drives, passes across the field and Wambach slams it home with a head shot! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL! 2-2. With seconds left in the final extra frame, the United States musters all in one final attack, out-outnumbered, but not out-done, did not give up and score the tying goal to take this one to penalty shots - to determine the winner and the eventual advance to the semi finals.

First Attempt: the U.S. Boxx is blocked, but in a play reminiscent on a call against Hope Solo, the goalie moved up and out of position is called for the penalty. Boxx scores on second attempt.

Brazil: Goal!

1-1.

Second Attempt: Lloyd. Lloyd went left and Goal! 2-1.

Brazil: Marta Silva is up. Goal! Marta went left and Hope Solo to her left and saw it go to her right.

Third Attempt: Wambach. She goes right and up and GOAL! 3-2.

Brazil: Daiane is up. She goes left and Solo blocks it! 3-2.

Fourth Attempt: Megan Rapinoe. Rapinoe goes left and scores! Goal!

Brazil: Goal!

Fifth Attempt: Krieger. Goal! America Wins! there is hope and that hope is HOPE SOLO!

In a game that seemed to be all but over with seconds to play, the United States turns it around and wins it in penalty shots. Early on, the U.S. woman dominated the entire field and at 68 minutes, Marta scored the first goal for Brazil and would later score another at 92 minutes, just minutes into the first of two fifteen-minute. All the while, the U.S. was down a player from minute 64. The United States did not give in, and Brazil did not go in for the kill. With seconds to play, Rapinoe lifted up a centering pass and Wambach slammed it home to score the tying goal. There is always hope!

As an individual that viewed the entire game, my one enduring comment will be that with all of the missed calls - on both sides, video replay is that much closer. Questionable calls and frustrating non-calls leaves one scratching one’s head or cleaning up liquid from the liquid plasma screen and leaves one wondering why this fine game is littered with so many questionable calls. The ejection of Rachel Bueller is just so unfathomable, that it is just that: unfathomable.

Don’t knock the players. Both teams played as champions. Both played as power teams on a mission. Brazil did not finish well and the United States did. Hope Solo in goal was the on-field leader and lead her team to victory.

Dresden burned in World War Two and now Dresden burns again, along with America, with the fire from the American women!

The opening paragraph was being written with minutes to play and will remain for me as it represents to you my belief that this game was over.

There is always hope. Her name is: Hope Amelia Solo. Siempre Esperanza!

I am watching "Conspiracy" on the History Channel - this program discusses the apparent conspiracy by the Roosevelt Administration to allow for the Japanese to attack, allowing America entry into the Second World War.

The dramatic storytellers that they are, they boldly declare that the lunch of the almost three dozen ships, lets loose a deadly attack of some 300 airplanes against the American Naval Base at Honolulu, Hawaii. They further go on to state that this is "the first, entirely carrier-based assault in military history, obliterates the US base . . ."

Does the History Channel not read history? Are they so lazy in that they choose not to do research?

In November of 1940, on the evening of the 11th, 21 Fiery Swordfish, from the aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious, launched the first, carrier-based, air attack in military history.

Now that I am on the subject on the History Channel's lack thereof, I wish to also state that they got it wrong in the telling of the Sinking of the Bismark. AT&T to Buy T-Mobile USA in $39 Billion Deal

AT&T announced on Sunday that it has agreed to buy T-Mobile
USA from Deutsche Telekom for $39 billion in cash and stock,
in one of the biggest mergers since the onset of the
financial crisis.

The deal will dramatically bolster AT&T's footprint in the
country, adding an additional 46.5 million customers.

Under the terms of the deal, AT&T will pay $25 billion in
cash and the rest in stock. Deutsche Telekom will in turn
gain an 8 percent stake in AT&T and a seat on the American
telecom giant's board.

After N.F.L. Talks Fail, Union Decides to Decertify

Talks between the N.F.L. and the players union broke off
Friday, and the union took steps to dissolve itself, sending
the country's most popular sport into labor turmoil and
imperiling the 2011 season.

The union is expected to seek an injunction to prevent owners
from locking players out, and perhaps file antitrust lawsuits
against owners, using big-name players as plaintiffs. The
collective bargaining agreement expires at midnight, and
after 16 sessions with the federal mediator George Cohen, the
sides still remain far apart on the percentages of revenues
each would receive, the fundamental issue that divides them.

On June 28, 1992, at 4:57 AM local time, a 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck Landers, California. Not three hours later, a 6.4 earthquake struck Big Bear, California, not 100 miles apart. At first, it was believed that Big Bear was an aftershock, but later, it was determined to be its own seismic event. Not long ago, a 6.2 earthquake struck the west coast of Japan, NW of Tokyo. Pettitte, 38, finishes his career with a 240-138 (.635) record and 3.88 ERA (3,055.1 IP, 1,317 ER) in 479 starts over 16 Major League seasons with the Yankees (1995-2003 and '07-10) and Houston Astros (2004-06). He is one of just 26 pitchers all-time to complete his career 100-or-more games over .500. Of the 19 Hall of Fame-eligible pitchers who have reached that plateau, only "Parisian" Bob Caruthers, who went 218-99 from 1884-92, is not enshrined in the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Originally selected by the Yankees in the 22nd round of the 1990 First-Year Player Draft, Pettitte played 13 seasons with the club, going 203-112 with a 3.98 ERA (2,535,2 IP, 1,122 ER) and 1,823 strikeouts in 405 games (396 starts). In franchise history, he ranks second in strikeouts and starts, third in wins, fourth in innings pitched and eighth in appearances (405). He appeared in eight career World Series (seven as a Yankee), winning championships with the club in 1996, '98, '99, 2000 and '09.

Pettitte is the all-time winningest pitcher in postseason history, going 19-10 with a 3.83 ERA in 42 career starts. He also ranks first all time in postseason starts and innings pitched (263.0), and is tied for second with 173 strikeouts. His personal career postseason win total is more than that of nine other franchises (Kansas City-18; Arizona-15, Seattle-15, San Diego-12, Tampa Bay-10, Colorado-9, Milwaukee-9, Texas-9, and Montreal/Washingon-5). As a Yankee in the postseason, he went 18-9 with a 3.79 ERA (237.2 IP, 100 ER) in 38 career starts. While winning his final World Series with the Yankees in 2009, he became the first pitcher in Baseball history to start and win the clinching game of three series in a single postseason (ALDS vs. Minnesota, ALCS vs. Los Angeles-AL and WS vs. Philadelphia).

While in the seminary, the deans and teachers told me that I was a mother-hen and that I needed to create separation between me and the other classmates. Hey, they were my peeps (read: my minions), but it was cool, I got the message.

I can see that even today.

I am creating separation between myself and others, in my universe, simply because I am not your momma, nor am I willing to breast feed. I never was the suckling type.

The reality is that I have had it. If you are looking for a hug, support or some thing along those lines . . . go look some place else. The reality is that you really just don't listen. I am tired of repeating myself because I really don't like to repeat myself. I am not Jim Rome . . .

Nope, I'm not feeling postal. I do feel that Facebook has become too much of an issue in my life. While Facebook is cool to meet with people, it is something that will not be my entire life.

I do, in fact, have a life and while MyCafe is a wonderful dalliance, the idea that since I am not posting on Facebook seems to imply that I am dead to the world, frankly, is something that is beyond my comprehension.

I choose to die. I prefer to leave the world that is alive and go with the dead - those that "live" in the world that is not called Facebook.

I also choose to leave Facebook because I can not control the posts of those in my universe and I grow tired of the insipid comments that show on my comments or on my wall. How do I stop them? Don't post! I won't. Peace will be my domain and the worries of such dilemmas, will be a thing of the past.

Look, I am an adult and I think that I am sensitive to other people and how they go about their business. I respect people and their private lives. I don't call after 8 PM and I don't call before 9 AM. Hell, sometimes I don't call, I just write an e-mail and I then wait for the response.

Whenever I send an invite via Facebook, I tell the person that I want to be friends with, who I am and why I want to be friends. I think I am rather clear about it. I make no bones about it and the person accepts or doesn't. The only time I don't ask, is if I know the person.

I have been friends with someone on Facebook for some time and I finally asked them if they would do the radio program since they have a movie premiering in late January 2011. In the note, I told him who I was and I asked him to do the program. Within minutes of the e-mail, I was blocked and I did not get a response! Wow. In the note, I even stated that if it was inappropriate for me to contact him via his Facebook account, I asked for forgiveness and if he could direct me to the proper person so that I could contact him for an interview!

I have a radio program that is growing in size and popularity and I believe, his fan base would have attended this interview and would have appreciated the chance to interact with him.

I guess not.

It is not for me to say who it was, but I will say this: as this program grows and as it gains popularity, I won't forget this snub. I just don't forget stuff like that, but I won't be out to slam the individual, but really, he didn't have to be a jerk about it.

Speaking of snubs, I was also snubbed by Michael Hinman from SyFyPortal - he said that he would be on back in 2009 and he just didn't show. Never called, never showed. Now, I see, his radio program is back, yet again. He states: "We're back!" How many times is this now, three, four times that you go away and then come back? Just watch, his radio program will stop again and down the road, he'll declare: "We're back!"

Lame.

Oh and all of my interviews are live, not recorded.

Oh, I also found out that the audience numbers for NDB Media are more than his. I also know because he doesn't state them as I do. Too bad, mine are real, yours are . . . well, small - I guess that is why you go away and then come back again and again. Try again.

As this weekend comes to an end, I still have a smile on my face. While it may be raining and boy, it continues to rain, I am so thrilled. I figured the weekend was going to be a blast, but little did I know it was going to be this good.

Friday, I spent the evening with my brothers from the seminary, saw several for this time since 1985. Bird Solis! Wow! I am glad that Selva and I were able to get up there in the foul weather. Selva's vehicle broke down, in the shadow of Dodger Stadium, not far from my place of employment - Broadway and 19th! AAA picked us up and after that, three hours later, we then drove north - I should have taken my vehicle, like I suggested, Selva! Great seeing Ignacio, Will, Francisco, Hipolito, Jerry, Bird, Albert and of course, Anthony.

On Saturday morning, not two hours after I got home, we premiered a brand-new sports program - "The Professionals". Lenny Melnick, Tim McLeod and Sonny Clark, joined me and the Big Dog! "The Sports Reporters" had better watch out!

Later that evening, we were visited by my wife's side of the family and we BBQ'd! We had our very own Tommy's burgers. You can buy the chili and take it home! We did and Maggie worked her magic! Thanks Jose, Lizette, Damian, Sergio, Sandra, Stephanie and Stacey for spending a great evening with us! I'll get the money back, Sergio! Playing Texas Hold 'em was lots of fun. Finished real late too.

Sunday morning, I cooked breakfast - I do so once a year and my brave seminary family comes to visit. We met early in the morning and went well into the afternoon. I love you guys! Tony, Stacey, Nate, Jorge, Peter and Crusher! We had a blast and the morning passed so quickly, that we just couldn't believe it by the time one o-clock rolled around.

I thank Maggie, Ariel and Giselle for doing all that they did. I love you guys, too!

Oh, good think the Raiders won. I didn't watch the game, but I am soooooooo happy they pulled it out.

Now, I can't wait to visit with Albert, his family and the brothers that show on January 2, at his house. Disneyland will have to wait for a while.

Thanks guys, I had a blast. I will not, soon, forget this weekend.

I will never forget when that call came in, late at night. I knew the call, when it rang, it was bad news. Alma told me that you had just passed away. We had just left, not one hour earlier and upon reaching home, we received the news.

I am sorry I was not there when you left us and I do think of you often. I remember your kindness and your love to us all. Flawed you may have been, it was only because your love blinded you to have patience and tolerance for one and all.

I will forever remember how the migrant workers would visit your home and you would cook a meal for them and send them on their way. How you never turned anyone away and how you gave everything you had for your family.

My two girls remember you and still smile when I speak of you and for that, I can only give thanks and regret that they did not have you for more time.

I miss you and still think of you, but you were with me for 32 years and for that, I can only give thanks for having you in my life. Today and each day, on the 9th of December, I go back and live in the memories that you gave me.

I never did tell you that we almost named Ariel for you. Aurelia, she could have been. In many ways, she is you, loving and caring and tolerant for one and all. You gave that to her. We still have that - from you.
